Our Values

REST + RENEWAL

Our mission and hope are that your soul is refilled and heart encouraged.

Each person receives encouragement in different ways. Be it the beauty of our surroundings that touch the soul, the songs of nearby birds, the small achievement of splitting firewood, or the chance to simply be still and hear afresh God’s small voice.

SLOW, BREATHE, + “JUST BE”

For each missionary, these moments are life.

God’s invitation remains the same for all His children. Take time to be still, let His word and voice sink deep and heal, and His embrace and comfort bring peace.

THOUGHTFUL DEBRIEFING

Intentional conversations to help you unpack your cross-cultural journey.

To add to your restful experience we also provide, should you find it helpful, listening ears of seasoned missionaries, opportunities for intentional conversations & debriefing for both adults and children.

MARGINS

The gap between our load and our limit. Christ’s call takes into consideration the pace and demand of both our lives and ministry.

“Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest. For there was constant coming and going” - Mark 6:31 MSG

WHAT WE VALUE

What We Believe

Beginning of the Rest recognizes that Christian and Biblical hospitality is about inviting people in, celebrating the truths we hold in common, embracing grace for each to probe and ponder the awesome God we all worship and serve.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God sufficient for all matters of faith and Christian practice.

  • We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, revealing to us the riches of living in relationship, and reminding us that we are not fully ourselves apart from community.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension in heaven, in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate, and in His personal return in power and grace.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who convicts and regenerates sinful man, and by whose indwelling makes the Church’s constant renewal in faith, holiness, love, and mission victorious, and the believer’s desire to live a godly life possible.

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

  • We embrace as Christian brothers and sisters all who hold to the above tenets of the Christian faith regardless of denominational affiliation.
